> Jennifer & Rich: Married at the St. Julien, Boulder

A sweet woman married a sweet man at the St. Julien this July, and I was fortunate enough to be a part of their Big Day. This wedding had it all – the excitement, the nerves, a First Look, a threat of storms during an outside ceremony, a special couple’s cocktail, a big cake and a sweet first dance. Congratulations, Jennifer & Rich!!

> Kara & Matt

Kara & I got in touch just two weeks before her Big Day when she was searching for a last-minute replacement for her photographer. I was excited to accept the challenge, and met her just two days before her wedding. We clicked right away and I couldn’t wait to get up to Estes Park to shoot her special day with Matt (and their sweet Lulu).

The whole day was up top at the Mountainside Lodge at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. The view is gorgeous in every direction; it’s a perfect Colorado wedding venue. During the ceremony, Kara & Matt invited all of their parents to help plant a new tree that they’ll bring home together.

Their reception was above the ceremony site by the lodge, under an open pavilion overlooking another mountain range. Name cards were tied to pine cones hanging from a tree nearby. Each setting had a mason jar with a map and wildflower seeds for guests to take with them. The cake was beautiful, the speeches were sweet and the dancing lasted all night. Matt even had a special dance with his almost-one-year-old, Lulu. We grabbed one last photo of Matt & Kara as the sun set behind the mountains.

Congratulations, Kara & Matt, and thank you so much for including me in your amazing day!

> 3rd Blog Feature!

Colorado Weddings Magazine has an awesome blog online where they share some great weddings from around the state. They’ve been so gracious lately and I now have my third wedding featured on their blog! It’s from David & Evie‘s wedding last summer, check it out: http://coweddingsmag.com/2013/06/18/the-perfect-blend-at-denver-botanic-gardens/.

> Melissa & Nolan: Slideshow

If the last post wasn’t enough for you, here’s a slideshow of more images from the entire day at Melissa & Nolan’s April wedding. The little touches made all the difference, although with a venue like Chatfield Botanic Gardens it’s not hard to have a gorgeous wedding!

> Amanda & Jason

It was a sunny day, blue skies all around. It was also our first true cold day this fall in Summit. Not chilly, but Cold with a Capital C. And it was Amanda & Jason’s big day! Despite the windy afternoon and constant shivers, the couple (and their families) were real troopers for taking the photos outside.

Guests arrived to greet the bride and groom – still yet to be married – and enjoyed light cocktails and appetizers together. Amanda & Jason exchanged vows outside at The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks, right as the sun lit up the skies with a firey red sunset. Their ceremony was on the 10th hole tee box; the view was stunning.

Back inside the (very warm) clubhouse, desserts awaited topped with a surprise for Jason. In honor of being a pilot, Amanda decorated the mini desserts with hand-made airplanes, complete with their names and wedding date. Dancing ensued, followed by more food, fun and family. Congratulations to the amazing couple! I’m so happy I was invited to help create some truly special memories!

> An Extended Bridal Shoot

I knew the moment I met Larissa that we were going to have fun doing photos, but when we had extra time to do an extended bride-only shoot I couldn’t have asked for a better bride! Her classic style lent itself well to the setting: an old, vintage hotel in Evergreen with beautiful pines along the edges. She said shooting more and more photos would help calm her nerves before the ceremony, so off we went! What better opportunity to take some extra time for photographs of yourself than on your wedding day? I hope she’s half as happy as I am with these – I’m thrilled with quite a few of them! Warmest wishes to Larissa and her high school sweetheart and now husband, Ben!

> Kelly & Jason

About ten days after the horrendous fires swept across the front range and teased Boulder with it’s southern flames earlier this summer, the skies finally opened wide during Kelly & Jason’s wedding and rain soaked the ground around them. The rain waited until the final minute of their ceremony, which was held outside at Pastures of Plenty farm in Longmont (by far one of, if not the, coolest venues I’ve been to yet!). Big Bang Catering, who partners with the local, organic farm, provided some of the best BBQ I’ve had in a long time. And a three piece version of the band, Meniskus, had people dancing through the night.

Despite rainy, chilly weather (I wore shorts; I was sure it would be in the 90s that day!) we got some fun shots. In one word, Kelly & Jason are FUN. They dangled from monkey bars, grabbed a swing, climbed on cars and fences, and even found a lucky horseshoe during our shoot. Lots of luck (rain) and love poured down on them that day. Congratulations, you two! (And to this day, I have never had a strawberry shortcake as good as the mini ones at their dessert bar; great choice, Jason!)
