> A look Back at 2013

One of my most favorite parts about shooting weddings is the travel. I’ve been to so many places I probably wouldn’t have gone had I not shot a wedding there. There’s nothing like an absolutely, positively, awesomely amazing wedding venue! One that lends itself well to a ton of photos in a contained space; one that has great light inside or out; one that has breathtaking mountain views; one that is worth the drive, no matter how long or hard it is. These are the places I’ve been so lucky to see this summer.

> Married in St. Louis

Carrie & Bjorn brought me back home to StL for their Big Day, and it was beautiful. The quick ceremony was under a covered porch at the Whitmoor Golf Club, and the reception followed right inside. The sun hid behind a blanket of grey clouds, keeping temps down a bit. Their smiles only got bigger as the day went on, making my job quite easy!

> A Four Seasons Denver Wedding

A classic Denver wedding in the heart of the city, with a rain delay to cool off the night.

> Kaitlin & Connor’s Big Day in Denver

You’d never know it was a scorcher out on Katilin & Connor’s wedding day – the ladies kept it together and the bride was stunning. Rain cooled off the evening, and after the ceremony we found a huge willow tree and some gorgeous late afternoon magic hour light. Beautiful people + beautiful setting = awesome wedding. Congrats!

> Jennifer & Rich: Married at the St. Julien, Boulder

A sweet woman married a sweet man at the St. Julien this July, and I was fortunate enough to be a part of their Big Day. This wedding had it all – the excitement, the nerves, a First Look, a threat of storms during an outside ceremony, a special couple’s cocktail, a big cake and a sweet first dance. Congratulations, Jennifer & Rich!!

> Lindsay & Jess: A Beautiful Breck Wedding

Considering all of the rainy days we’ve had in the mountains this summer, Lindsay & Jess’ wedding day in Breckenridge was arguably one of the most beautiful days. After a little hiccup and a delayed ceremony, the couple finally sealed their vows with a kiss under a gorgeous golden sky. > Kara & Matt

Kara & I got in touch just two weeks before her Big Day when she was searching for a last-minute replacement for her photographer. I was excited to accept the challenge, and met her just two days before her wedding. We clicked right away and I couldn’t wait to get up to Estes Park to shoot her special day with Matt (and their sweet Lulu).

The whole day was up top at the Mountainside Lodge at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. The view is gorgeous in every direction; it’s a perfect Colorado wedding venue. During the ceremony, Kara & Matt invited all of their parents to help plant a new tree that they’ll bring home together.

Their reception was above the ceremony site by the lodge, under an open pavilion overlooking another mountain range. Name cards were tied to pine cones hanging from a tree nearby. Each setting had a mason jar with a map and wildflower seeds for guests to take with them. The cake was beautiful, the speeches were sweet and the dancing lasted all night. Matt even had a special dance with his almost-one-year-old, Lulu. We grabbed one last photo of Matt & Kara as the sun set behind the mountains.

Congratulations, Kara & Matt, and thank you so much for including me in your amazing day!
